CandidaCandida and Thrush, and Yeast Infection Cures and Remedies

Thrush

Thrush

Thrush , simply put, is a yeast infection. It causes small white patches to form on the tongue and inside of the mouth. It is most common to babies but can occur at any age. The growth of yeast can sometimes get out of control. Babies can be very susceptible to Thrush because they have not had the opportunity to build up a strong immune system yet.

There are also some diseases that can increase the chances of adults to catch this infection. This would include diseases like diabetes, where patients must take injections on a regular basis. They may also be taking antibiotics or various types of inhalants which can sometimes increase the risk of this infection.

Thrush in the elderly

As people age, their immune system can begin to weaken. This is the reason why elderly people can often be just as susceptible to this type of yeast infection as babies. They may also have contracted other medical issues through their lifetime that have lessened their ability to fight it off.

Symptoms of Thrush

One of the most common “symptoms of Thrush” can be the white patches that are inside the mouth.  Research can be done on this infection by searching the Internet for pictures, information, and treatments.  You can also visit Thrush Treatments for additional information.  It is not a very pleasant condition and anyone who is suffering from it is likely to be very uncomfortable.

If you are dealing with a baby who has thrush, never try to wipe away the white patches as this can make them very red and sore. Babies with Thrush will be difficult enough to handle without causing more problems. You can always take your baby to the pediatrician if you are concerned that the treatment you are using is not working. Recovery times will be different for each child.

Thrush and Parental Care

When it comes to thrush and parental care, parents should, without fail, clean all of the pacifiers or bottle nipples that are used for the baby in very hot water. For a mother who breast-feeds, there are some topical creams and medicines that can be applied to the nipples to make sure they are yeast free. All natural or manufactured nipples should be dried and cleaned after feeding. Mothers should apply a lotion to make sure there skin does not become cracked or painful.

Treat Thrush in Babies

To “treat thrush” in babies, the topical creams used to treat a diaper rash can also be used. Sometimes a diaper rash is present at the same time. The same cream that is used for the diaper rash can most often be used for the infection. For adults, instead of using a topical cream, a medicinal liquid or lozenge can be used. If medicines are unsuccessful, a doctor will be able to prescribe a pill for the problem.
